Our Story

Westlake Towne Center, a $45 million project, is located in close proximity to Smith Mountain Lake in Franklin County, Virginia. This 140-acre, architectural style development was begun in 2001.

Westlake Towne Center has afforded our region access to business-support services including legal services, patent-intellectual legal services, engineering firms in a variety of disciplines, prototyping, machining, testing, accounting and marketing/advertising.

Since its inception, Westlake Towne Center has been the Lake’s key destination for shopping and retail, with anchor tenants including Kroger, Westlake Cinema and Westlake Salon & Spa. The Westlake golf course is located just one mile away. Westlake Towne Center includes Westlake Professional Park and Office Complex, offers easy access to many of the region’s preeminent medical service providers as well as legal and financial services. Our Four Square complex is an innovative hybrid center for service providers who require additional inventory space.

Westlake Towne Center is home to a variety of service-related businesses and is geared to market to businesses that want to relocate to the rural, resort community of Smith Mountain Lake. We are fortunate to be in close proximity to major markets, with high technology connections to Virginia Tech in telecommunications, engineering, wireless, life sciences, biotechnology, and agriculture. The Smith Mountain Lake area is also near Lynchburg, Va., Richmond, Va., Greensboro, N.C. and Raleigh, N.C.

Westlake Towne Center is owned, marketed and operated by The Willard Companies. This innovative group of companies represents excellence in construction, planning, development and marketing. The Willard Companies was founded by area native Ronald L. Willard, who was among the first to realize the potential of the lake and actively pursue making Smith Mountain Lake a great place to live, work and play.
